An Immediate Ceasefire

Parliament is the official place of government business. When there was an opportunity to vote for a ceasefire at the UN, Australia abstained on a Humanitarian Truce. Further, Jason Clare did NOT call for an immediate and sustained ceasefire from Parliament. On two occasions, he and the Labor Party voted down motions for a ceasefire.

Condemnation

Jason Clare did NOT condemn, by name, the war crimes committed by Israel in Gaza. He did, however, call the protesters for Palestine “awful” and described student protests in Melbourne as “very disappointing”.

Arms Embargo

Australia is giving millions to Israel’s Elbit Systems. Jason Clare has NOT called for an immediate halt on Australian defence goods being exported to Israel and Australian defence contacts with Israeli companies.

Women and Children

When women’s undergarments were posted on social media by Israeli soldiers, Jason Clare did NOT condemn them. He has however, instructed the Australian Research Council to investigate Randa Abdel-Fattah for calling out Israel’s injustices. He has also stated that Israel has a right to defend itself. We are yet to hear Jason say, “Palestinians have a right to defend themselves.”

There is a heavy price for blind loyalty. Unconditional loyalty only ensures that our issues remain secondary.

Independence is a practical and viable alternative. There cannot be change without consequences.

They were feeble in defending the victims

This initiative is led primarily by The Muslim Vote (TMV) Australia. Multiple stakeholders, however, have joined the movement. So, while TMV is leading the way, the support of 30+ organisations, corporations and professionals have joined the movement to affect change. We are a grassroots community coming together to achieve genuine change for Australia. Multiple grassroots organisations have forged together after the 7th of October, 2023, with the urgency of the Australian government to act.

Jason Clare is the minister of one of the most multicultural communities in Australia. His areas are highly conservative, and if united, can impact the safe Labor seat of Blaxland. Historically, Jason has demonstrated that party politics overrides the voice of constituents. For example, Jason Clare supported same-sex marriage despite nearly 74 per cent of his western Sydney electorate rebuffing his stance. Jason Clare also rejected unconditional ceasefire motions in parliament in the Genocide against Palestinians.
